Meet Reno Rafter 7, our very first truly local yarn! It's crafted from the wool of Rafter 7 sheep, raised by the University of Nevada, Reno. The wool is spun into yarn by Mountain Meadow Wool and hand - dyed at Madelinetosh. You can only find it at Jimmy Beans Wool! The Rafter 7 sheep were developed in the 1990s by the University of Nevada, Reno's Experiment Station and are now raised at the Great Basin Research and Extension Center in Eureka, NV. These sheep are well - adapted to the harsh Great Basin environment and produce some of the nation's finest wool. We're thrilled to launch this amazing yarn at Jimmy Beans! Our Reno Rafter 7 collection in this delicious yarn includes sweaters, one - skein accessories, and a beautiful blanket.

Using this Reno Rafter 7 yarn is a breeze. You can use it for knitting or crocheting projects like sweaters, accessories, or blankets as described. When starting your project, make sure to leave a long enough tail for sewing up later. For cleaning, it's best to hand - wash this wool yarn in cool water with a gentle wool detergent. Avoid wringing it out, as this can damage the fibers. Instead, gently squeeze out the excess water and lay it flat to dry. When storing, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Also, protect it from moths by using natural moth repellents like lavender sachets.
